A Guide to Denture Adhesive

Denture adhesives come in three basic forms. There are adhesives that are sold in glue or paste form, powder types and adhesives that come in as thin liners. Each has its own line of advantages. One of the more popular types of adhesives comes in paste form. The product is sold in tube-like containers, similar to regular toothpaste. It is used by squeezing a small amount of the paste into the indented area that goes over your gums. Paste adhesives come in many flavors and strengths allowing consumers to choose from a wide variety of offerings.

The paste is known to leave some residue on the gums and pallet, although this can be remedied easily. To remove any residue, simply use a piece of cloth that has a rough texture. An alternative is drinking a glass or so of soda or any type of carbonated drink. The carbonation in the liquid will effectively dissolve any remaining residue.

I have full lower and upper dentures

I've had the uppers for 15 years and the full lower for almost 5. In all honesty, I had trouble adjusting to both, BUT now have no complaints. I love 'em!
When I first got the lowers, they "floated" because you don't get the suction down there that you can on top, which my dentist had told me would happen. I gave myself time and allowed my gums to heal well and then went back and had both the upper and lower relined.
What I do now is brush my teeth well each morning and for the upper denture I use a SeaBond Denture adhesive wafer. I had found how to trim it to fit perfectly and do that, use warm water, and put everything in
